Leftover Tinsel, Last Nights Gin (Now Streaming)
Today’s the day.
Leftover Tinsel, Last Night’s Gin, the Christmas single I wrote in honour of my mum, Lynne Davies, is officially live on all major streaming platforms worldwide.
This song began as a way to capture all the chaotic, warm, brilliantly northern Christmases we grew up with — working men’s clubs, bad telly, daft jokes, Nan on the sherry, nowhere to sit, everyone squeezed together.
But underneath all of that is something deeper.
Leftover Tinsel, Last Night’s Gin – Songwriters Introduction
Hear from the songwriter here:
Two and a half years ago, my mum was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Since then, Christmas has taken on a whole new meaning. Every moment feels sharper, more precious, more fragile. Every year becomes a little album of memories you never want to lose.
This song is my way of holding onto those moments, and hopefully helping others feel seen in theirs.

💙 100% of Royalties Go to the Motor Neurone Disease Association
Every stream, every share, every play — all royalties go directly to the MNDA, who have been a lifeline for my mum.
They helped her clone her voice.
They funded the specialist chair she calls her “Bobby Dazzler.”
They’ve supported her — and us — through every stage of this illness with dignity and care.
If the story or the song resonates, even £2 (the old price of a Christmas single) can make a real difference.

🎶 How the Song Was Made
I wrote every lyric and idea myself.
To bring it to life, I used:
Suno AI to generate and refine hundreds of musical variations
Google Veo 3 to create a video world inspired by northern Christmas nostalgia
Three years of learning how to use AI creatively to make something meaningful, fast, and independently
AI isn’t a replacement for creativity — it’s a tool that made it possible to build something for my mum that otherwise might never have existed.

Turn the smoke machine on, love…
Let’s see who’s still breathing.
Ten-pence piece spinning on the floor,
Neon drizzle dripping out the door.
Disco octopus, tangled wire,
Cheap seats humming like a church on fire.
In a world where everything matters,
And nothing does at all,
We dance through the static,
Beams of light in the hall.
Gavin’s snogging Stacey,
Del and Rodney are down the nags.
Nan’s on the sherry at ten,
Kevin’s home alone again.
Turkey curry, Paxo balls,
Kids up all night, awake at four.
Never anywhere to sit,
I’m happy on the floor —
So long as you’re next to me, Duck.
Christmas parties,
Stolen kisses,
Mistletoe ringing
With near misses.
In a world where everything matters,
And nothing does at all,
We dance through the static,
Beams of light in the hall.
Time to be together,
Moments don't last forever,
The most beautiful leaves always fall.
Something to remember,
Love sellotaped in memories,
Under the tree, inside your head,
Wrapped in paper till next December.
In a world where everything matters,
And nothing does at all,
We dance through the static,
Beams of light in the hall.
Morning comes, house lights dim,
Leftover tinsel, last night’s gin.
Wrapping paper dancing in black bin bags,
Whispering words written on damp gift tags.
Till next year, when the sleigh bells begin,
Keep the faith. Love.
In a world where everything matters,
And nothing does at all,
We dance through the static,
Beams of light in the hall.
